Can Rejuran replace Botox? Criteria for choosing fine-line treatments in Korea
Full translation of the Korean article. Translation checked for completeness, numerical consistency and medical meaning; separate medical review of this translation is pending. Translation updated: 2026-10-28.

Rejuran is not a substitute with the same ingredients or action as Botox. Wrinkles that deepen with expression require assessment of muscle movement, while fine texture in thin, dry-looking skin requires separate assessment of skin condition. Even if both appear under “fine lines” on a menu, Botox for expression lines, Skin Botox and PN injections have different purposes. Before choosing one, first define the change you want.
The key to an international consultation: do you want to remove wrinkles or preserve movement?
Grouping Rejuran, Botox and Skin Botox on an English menu together as “glow injections” also makes differences in quotations difficult to explain. During examination, compare your face at rest with raised eyebrows or a smile, and show the one or two lines that concern you most and the movement you wish to retain. Expression lines, fine skin texture and volume loss may coexist, but mixed concerns do not mean every injection must be performed on the same day. With a limited budget and stay, you can prioritize one goal, define how and when to assess effects, and defer the rest. Photographs alone cannot establish wrinkle causes or suitability around the eyes.
| Current question | What to check first | Explanations to obtain before deciding |
|---|---|---|
| Lines become pronounced with expression | Muscle movement and baseline eyebrow and eyelid positions | Whether Botox addresses the goal and which movements to retain |
| Fine texture and dryness are concerns even at rest | Distinguish dermatitis, dryness, photoaging and fixed wrinkles | The need for basic skincare and skin-quality treatments such as PN |
| Skin Botox is recommended for pores and oiliness | An injection purpose different from Botox for facial-expression muscles | Actual ingredients, approved uses and limits of expected effects |
| Both were recommended | The different goals each procedure is intended to address | Pros and cons of choosing one, staged treatment and postponement |
Definitions and how the treatments work
Rejuran is a family of injectable products containing PN; check product-specific purposes and precautions in manufacturer materials. Botulinum toxin temporarily reduces signaling between nerves and muscles. Skin Botox generally refers to superficial divided injections and also differs from conventional treatment of facial-expression muscles. The word “regeneration” does not mean complete restoration of damage or wrinkles.
Potential benefits and limitations
A split-face trial comparing PN and non-crosslinked HA around the eyes in 27 people assessed some skin measures after repeated injections. It was neither a direct comparison with Botox nor evidence of effects on a particular visitor’s forehead lines or of every Rejuran program. Botox may soften suitable expression lines, but cannot address all skin sagging, deep fixed wrinkles or volume loss. Read the evidence for the two procedures separately; neither can be ranked as better for all fine lines.
Who can seek a consultation and how suitability is assessed
Identify your main concern among expression changes, skin texture and dryness, and bring previous procedure records. Disclose eyelid droop, dry eyes, neuromuscular disease, allergies to fish or injectable ingredients, infection, dermatitis, medications that increase bleeding risk, pregnancy and breastfeeding. If dermatitis is the main issue, you may first discuss treatment of its cause rather than choosing cosmetic injections.
Procedure, recovery and scheduling
After assessing expressions and skin condition, the physician determines the actual product, areas, total amount and pain control. Obtain separate explanations of PN-related raised injection bumps, bruising and swelling and Botox-related small injection marks, bruising and delayed muscle responses. Do not judge immediate hydration or swelling as final wrinkle improvement; obtain a reassessment plan. A recovery completion date cannot be guaranteed to fit photography, sightseeing or flight schedules.

Side effects, contraindications and symptoms requiring medical attention
Common injection risks include pain, bruising, swelling, infection and hypersensitivity. With PN, consider nodules and persistent inflammation; with toxin, unwanted muscle weakness, asymmetry and brow or eyelid droop. Severe pain, abnormal skin color, visual changes, or difficulty swallowing, speaking or breathing are signs requiring immediate medical care. Check product-specific contraindications, interactions and Korean authorization; do not self-inject or mix products on your own.
Rejuran, expression-line Botox and Skin Botox are not the same menu option
| Category | Role and goals | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| PN injections | Product-specific skin-quality and fine-line goals | Not a substitute action for toxin-induced reduction of muscle contraction |
| Expression-line Botox | Reduction of selected muscle movements | Does not replenish all skin texture, hydration and volume |
| Skin Botox | Goals such as skin texture through superficial divided injections | Check authorization, total units, effects on expression and evidence limitations |
| Moisturizing and dermatitis treatment | Management of the barrier and causes of irritation | Injections may be unnecessary or need postponement |
Questions and answers for a medical consultation
These consultation questions were compiled from the literature and do not represent a clinician interview or an individual prescription. Clinical review of the new article has not yet been completed.
Q. Will Rejuran make my forehead move less?
A. PN is not botulinum toxin. Do not expect the same movement-reducing effect.
Q. Can I distinguish Skin Botox from expression-line Botox using the English menu alone?
A. Names alone are insufficient. Check ingredients, areas, injection purpose and total units using the actual instructions and examination.
Q. Do I need both?
A. Discuss the need for combination treatment only when each goal is clear. Single or staged treatment is also possible.
Consultation with the SEOLREIM clinic director and signature programs
SEOLREIM Clinic states its principles of physician-led consultations and procedures, genuine products, accurate quantities and attentive care. Consultation starts by distinguishing skin condition and goals, then checking the products and devices actually available, approved indications, dose or energy plans, recovery and risks. Official Shining Rejuran, Royal Rejuran and Baby Collagen are program names. Check actual components, products and goals rather than considering them the same ingredients or effects as Botox. Ask the clinician to explain priorities between skin-quality care and expression-line management.
