Rejuran Results, Pain and Swelling: What to Check Before Choosing a PN Skin Booster
The Korean original has been medically reviewed; medical review of this translation is pending.

Rejuran is a skin booster that injects purified polynucleotides (PN) into the skin with the aim of improving texture and fine lines. Results vary with the product, injection depth, dose and skin condition. The term ‘regeneration’ does not mean that every skin concern can be resolved or that results are guaranteed.

Definition and mechanism
PN refers to a substance made of linked nucleotides. In aesthetic medicine, it is injected with the aim of improving skin hydration, texture, elasticity and fine lines. Its application can vary with product viscosity and treatment area. Rejuran should not be described as equivalent to a filler or cell therapy.
Potential benefits and limitations
People concerned about rough or dry skin and fine lines may see an improvement in skin condition. However, this is not a standalone treatment for deep wrinkles, substantial volume loss or pronounced sagging. The strength of clinical findings varies with the product and protocol.
Who may be a candidate
Adults whose main concerns are a weakened skin barrier, dryness, fine lines or skin texture may seek a consultation. Active dermatitis, infection or severe inflammatory acne should be addressed first. Tell the clinician about previous adverse reactions to injections and any medicines you take.
Procedure and recovery
The consultation assesses skin thickness, sensitivity, previous injected products and treatment goals before deciding the area and amount. Injection pain, redness, raised bumps, bruising and swelling can occur. These usually improve within several days, but recovery varies. Allow extra time before important events.

Side effects, precautions and contraindications
Temporary pain, swelling, bruising and itching may commonly be reported. Infection, nodules, allergy and delayed inflammatory reactions can occur less often. Discuss pregnancy, breastfeeding, active infection, medicines that increase bleeding risk and a tendency to form keloids with the clinician beforehand.
How it differs from other treatments
Hyaluronic acid skin boosters are often discussed in terms of hydration and texture, PN products in terms of the skin environment and texture, and fillers in terms of restoring volume in specific areas. Baby Collagen, Juvelook and Rejuran differ in composition and action. The word ‘booster’ does not make them the same treatment.
Medical Q&A
Q. Is one Rejuran session enough? A. There is no single standard number for everyone; the plan depends on skin condition and goals. Q. Is it very painful? A. Pain varies with the injection method, anesthesia and individual sensitivity. Q. Can I apply makeup immediately afterward? A. This depends on the skin reaction and treatment method; follow the clinician’s instructions.

References include a Rejuran clinical trial on PubMed (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25473210/) and a 2024 review of the current evidence and limitations of PN in aesthetic medicine (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11311621/). Both should be interpreted with the understanding that findings for a particular product and protocol cannot be generalized to every PN treatment.
