Korean Dermatology Treatments
Are the Kardashian sisters coming to Korea for “this”? The Korean dermatology treatments drawing global attention

Dermatology clinics are the places most frequently visited by foreign medical tourists in Korea. According to Seoul statistics, of approximately 1.17 million foreign patients last year, a remarkable 64% (660,000) sought dermatology care, more than four times plastic surgery's 12%. Even famous American models, businesswomen and influencers Kim Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian made headlines by posting Instagram selfies of themselves receiving procedures at Korean dermatology clinics.
Their reasons for traveling to Korea for skin procedures are straightforward. First, results look natural. Second, recovery is short and daily life can resume immediately. Third, clinics offer the latest equipment, refined techniques and reasonable costs. Social media and K-pop stars further drive demand to try treatments received by favorite idols and influencers. What Korean procedures are hottest among foreign visitors now? They fall broadly into four categories.

① Skin boosters: texture, hydration and elasticity together. Skin boosters inject nutrients directly into the skin to improve moisture, elasticity, radiance and texture. Among foreign patients, they are particularly popular with Americans, Japanese and Southeast Asians. The best known is Rejuran Healer. It introduces salmon-DNA-derived PN (polynucleotide) into the dermis to stimulate regeneration and restore firmness to thinning skin. Because it cannot be performed in the United States due to FDA approval issues, many Americans visit Korea specifically for Rejuran. Juvelook, a booster based on stem-cell-derived growth factors, and Super Miracle hydration injections, combining hyaluronic acid and amino acids, are also welcomed. These provide immediate glow and hydration without downtime.
② Botox and fillers: for a quick, simple but definite change. Botox and fillers are among the most accessible Korean procedures for foreign clients, because treatment is brief, effects appear quickly and side-effect risks are low. Western clients particularly seek a slimmer jawline through masseter Botox, while Asian clients focus on dimension and softness through fillers in the front cheeks, forehead or chin tip. Many clinics can fill naturally without compromising face shape, resulting in high satisfaction. This category is the most popular for a change that does not feel heavy.
③ Lifting: Ultherapy versus Thermage, the two leading contenders. Lifting is undoubtedly the favorite among middle-aged and older foreign patients. Ultherapy sends ultrasound to the deep SMAS fascial layer to induce collagen regeneration and elasticity. Even one session can refine the jawline, lift below the cheekbones and soften nasolabial folds, making it an essential stop for tourists returning yearly. Thermage sends radiofrequency deep into the dermis, contracting the skin densely and inducing new collagen over time. Its heat-based effects on texture, luster and textured radiance are strong enough to earn the name ‘radiance lifting.’ For smooth skin that survives a rear-camera selfie, Thermage is the right fit.
④ Pigmentation, redness and brightening lasers: correcting patchy tone. Not only Asian clients but also white and Southeast Asian patients care about even skin tone. High-output lasers such as Excel V and Enlighten are used for combined concerns including redness, melasma, spots and acne marks. They stimulate both epidermis and dermis, destroying pigment while also reducing pores and refining texture. Recently, Whitening Miracle, combining V laser with Shining Rejuran, has also become popular. Addressing brightening, luminous texture, elasticity and regeneration at once, it is among the most satisfying procedures for short-stay visitors. It particularly matches the beauty preferences of Japanese, Thai and Chinese patients.
