Enlarged Pores
So Yi-hyun’s summer care for enlarged pores: Do bigger pores make your face look bigger?

Actress So Yi-hyun battles her pores every summer. On her personal YouTube channel ‘So Yi-hyun In Gyo-jin,’ she recently said, ‘In summer, heat builds in the skin, pores stretch and the face looks larger,’ adding, ‘That’s why I try to do more skin care in summer, whatever it takes.’ She particularly emphasized that ‘30 minutes to an hour of night care before bed slows skin aging,’ and said she keeps various sheet masks in the refrigerator and uses one daily.

Summer skin sensitivity is not just a feeling. UV, sweat, sebum and heat act together, enlarging pores and readily reducing elasticity. The problem is that enlarged pores are not easy to reverse. Hydrating ampoules and sheet masks can soothe temporarily, but noticeable improvement is difficult to expect.
Pores are also about more than the size of an opening. They are directly connected with elasticity, oiliness, texture, pigmentation and other concerns. Home care helps soothe and hydrate but struggles to reduce the pores themselves. Summer-enlarged pores are often a structural problem caused by the breakdown of elastic fibers inside skin, requiring a professional approach matched to its condition. Visible pores do not all call for the same solution. Changes in dermal structure particularly require precision according to skin type.

① Skin with abundant sebum and pronounced shine: Allegro, which distributes a 1450 nm laser evenly through the dermis, is suitable. It effectively reduces sebaceous-gland activity, contracts pore walls and refines texture. It is recommended for oily skin where makeup breaks down easily or pores have enlarged because of sebum.
② Skin with excessive sebum and inflammatory acne: Agnes directly reduces sebum production by thermally coagulating sebaceous glands. Unlike simply wiping away oil, it controls the source of secretion to reduce sebum over the long term. Combining it with Sylfirm, which stimulates the dermis to regenerate skin, and Silky Pore Injection is an approach to restoring the skin’s structure itself.
③ Skin with residual discoloration or dullness around pores: when pigment or vascular discoloration is also present, a vascular and pigment-specific laser such as Excel V helps. Excel V is particularly suitable for persistent post-inflammatory pigmentation or acne marks. For severe facial redness, combining its redness mode with Sylfirm is even more effective at controlling redness.
④ Skin with indented, scar-like pores: enlarged pores are hard to visibly shrink through cosmetics or sheet masks alone. Sebum, reduced elasticity, pigmentation and scars act together, so systematic care based on skin condition is needed. Scar-like pores appear even more pronounced in summer. Combining Allegro laser to shrink sebaceous glands, Silky Pore Injection to treat scars and Sylfirm to support regeneration in these areas greatly helps improve scar-like pores.
Pores expand more easily under intense summer heat, so beginning care before the hottest weather arrives can produce better results. Everyone has a different skin type and a different reason for enlarged pores. The approach must vary for sebum-related pores, pores with residual pigmentation and indented scar-like pores. What matters is therefore not simply finding a way to tighten pores but properly understanding the changes happening in your skin.
The consistent care So Yi-hyun emphasizes only becomes meaningful when supported by the right direction. Pore care is a long-distance effort rather than a sprint. Whether home care or procedures, the important thing is to continue consistently with a method suited to you.
